Hagley Hole-in-One Host
Love meeting people, having a yarn and being part of something with a bit of energy?
The Yarns Men are looking for friendly, reliable people to help us bring Hagley Hole-in-One to life.
Hagley Hole-in-One is a community fundraising initiative based at Hagley Park Golf Club. People can come along, grab some balls, take a swing at our targets and be in to win prizes - all while supporting a great cause.
Behind the fun is a bigger purpose. 100% of the profits from Hagley Hole-in-One support The Yarns Men, a Christchurch charity working to spark honest yarns and foster connection for working-age men. Their vision is for communities where every man feels connected, valued and heard.
What you'll be doing
As a Hagley Hole-in-One Host, you'll help create a welcoming, fun and well-run experience for everyone who comes through.
Depending on the day, this might include:

Welcome participants and explain how Hagley Hole-in-One works

Set up and pack down of equipment and signage

Help keep the hitting bays safe, organised and running smoothly

Collect balls and share good yarns
-
Create a fun, friendly atmosphere and engage with participants

Support prizes and help share the kaupapa of The Yarns Men

Work alongside the team to make each day a great experience
You definitely don't need to be a golfer. Being approachable, willing to get involved and comfortable having a yarn with people is much more important.
What we're looking for
This could be a great fit if you:

Friendly, positive and comfortable talking with people

Reliable, proactive and happy working as part of a team

Keen to contribute to something positive in the Christchurch community.
You don't need previous volunteering or event experience. We'll make sure you know what you're doing and have support while you're there.

Most importantly, you'll be helping create a sustainable fundraiser that enables The Yarns Men to continue connecting and supporting men across Ōtautahi.

Hagley Park Golf Club, North Hagley Park, Christchurch
Hagley Hole-in-One currently operates on Saturday - Sunday 10am to 4pm*
We are available for events or group bookings.
*Opening times are dependent on weather and events.
A good yarn can go a long way
You might come along because you want to meet people, build some experience, give something back, support men's wellbeing - or simply because spending a few hours at Hagley Park helping people attempt a ridiculous golf shot sounds like a pretty good way to volunteer.
